PICSPIRATION SUNDAY: November is probably the least colorful month of the year. But even at this time of the year you can be lucky as photographer, as I felt I was at this shoot in Solbukta.
So I have to admit it. The photos in this week´s Picspiration Sunday are not new. They were taken in November two years ago in a place called Solbukta (the sun bay) in Frogn, Norway (see below for the exact location). On the morning i was there the water had started to freeze and I got a beautiful mix of autumn colors and the first signs of winter.
I had seen some beautiful images from Solbukta taken by Norwegian landscape photographer John Aavitsland, a photographer I have high respect for. If you check out his page on Pixoto you will see several photos taken on this location, for instance this one. I loved the photos he had taken at Solbukta, as the place is called.
The place is not too far from my home, so I texted Aavitsland to see if he would be kind enough to share the exact position for me. And he was.
About the Solbukta photos
For all the photos I used tripod and the HDR technique. I liked to show the movement in the water – and that requires long exposures.
It was an almost magic experience to be alone at this spot in the early morning hours. The creek is almost hidden, and you need to know about the place to find it.
I still hope to make it back to Solbukta later this fall – or maybe as snow falls.
